This exercise is designed to help you uncover your deeper purpose and align it with the six areas of flow:
Work & Career | Health & Fitness, Relationships & Social Life | Personal Development, Spirituality & Purpose | Creativity
Step 1: Reflect on Past Experiences
Start by thinking about moments in your life when you felt deeply fulfilled or in flow.
• What were you doing?
• Who were you with?
• Why did it feel meaningful?
• What strengths were you using?
Now think about times you felt the opposite - unmotivated, disconnected, or out of flow.
• What were you doing?
• Why did it feel draining or meaningless?
• What was missing?
Step 2: Define What Matters Most
Answer the following questions:
• What are your core values?
• Write down five words that represent what you care about most in life
(e.g., freedom, connection, growth, creativity, adventure).
• What breaks your heart?
• What issues or challenges in the world make you feel passionate or emotional?
Often, your why is connected to what you deeply care about changing or improving.
• What excites you?
• What activities or causes make you lose track of time and feel fully alive?
Your why statement goes here.
Using the insights from Steps 1 and 2, write a statement that captures your why.
Use Simon Sinek’s framework:
• To [contribution] so that [impact].
For example:
• To inspire creativity and innovation so that people can unlock their full potential.
• To nurture connections and empathy so that communities can thrive.
